Postnatal Consultation
Support and Guidance for New Parents
Service Description
Receive personalized support and advice to navigate the early days of breastfeeding. This postnatal consultation focuses on nurturing techniques, latch assistance, and addressing any concerns. Appointment Details: Appointments typically last 1.5–2 hours. The IBCLC will observe a full feeding, so try to schedule your baby’s feeding to coincide with the appointment. A full body and oral assessment will be performed to check for issues such as tongue tie or high palate. We provide guidance on latch, positioning, pumping, and milk expression, and discuss feeding goals, common challenges, and next steps. A weight check can be done upon request, and the IBCLC will determine if a weighted feed is needed. Referrals to other specialists may be recommended if appropriate.
